Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True
August 28, 2009 01:19 AM PDT
This is one of my favorite songs as of late. It's from the musical The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Sorry the recording quality sucks, I really need to get a better mic. Until then, I'll keep on recording myself to see if I'm improving at all. Besides the higher note on the end I think I'm improving a bit. How are Things in Glocca Mora? (Finianns Rainbow)

Note, this song is supposed to be sung by a man. But I like it lots so I sing it anyway. It's about a guy who is cheating on his wife, and the guilt he feels when he wakes up next to his lover. For those of you who don't know this musical, you should check it out. It's good stuff. So In Love (Kiss Me Kate)

September 03, 2006 10:15 AM PDT
This song visited the mainstream when it made an appearance in Dawson's Creek as Joey's talent show number a few years back. It has since been forgotten by the next generation of teenyboppers everywhere, but for those who know musical theater it's still one of those songs that every one sings a billion times until they get sick of it. I've avoided singing it for a while, because I feel like it's that song that everyone sings. But this morning I decided to sing it again, and I remembered why I love it so much. It's got that typical contemporary broadway build at the end - which is cheesy, but also really fun to play up from an acting perspective. So here's my take on the - contemporary classic - "I Dreamed a Dream." Mama I'm a Big Girl Now (Hairspray)

Take me to the World (Evening Primrose)
September 02, 2006 07:38 PM PDT
Evening Primrose was a made-for-tv movie about people who are stuck living their lives in a mall. I've yet to find a copy of it, so my knowledge of the actual film is limited. But two songs have made their way into the popular sheet music books, and have been sung on various Sondheim compilation cds -- "I Remember" and "Take Me to the World." Here's my -- take -- on the later. Some People (Gypsy)

Podcast SummaryFrom a young age, I fell in love with musical theater. Blame it on my parents dragging me to NYC to see broadway shows at a young age (my first being "The Secret Garden"), or my intimate connection with the highly emotional content of many showtunes-- I was hooked. Although my voice wasn't good enough to get me the lead roles in any shows, I kept on singing - in the shower, on the street corner, and anywhere else I happened to be. And then I started to record myself... Now my voice has improved a little bit, but I'm still not good enough to score roles in musicals. I'm still singing and recording myself. With this newfangled podcasting technology I get to share my hobby with the world. I use music to back my karaoke from karaoke cds, accomp only cds that come with sheet music books, or mp3 files on sites like HamieNet. If you're a piano player who loves broadway and would like to collaborate with me, drop me a note. Send over a mp3 of a piano track to any broadway song and I'll put some vocals on it. See, this is fun. :) About Adenawww.adenademonte.com Followers
